Is the Nintendo switch Deuce a next gen console or a current gen console?

Hi. My name is Vex.

Im kinda wanting to know if the switch Deuce is a next gen console or current gen? Remember when we used to have gens? Now console makers just release whenever they want? No more 8th or 9th generations? This is confusing.

It would be like getting rid of gens for pokeman, right?
